Pixelmator Professional vs. Apple Intelligence for eliminating objects in images

AI-powered devices can now decide devices, understand context, and fill gaps seamlessly. This means you will briefly improve your footage, despite no longer being a professional.

Pixelmator expert is a popular photo enhancement app for macOS with many tools to improve your footage. While it doesn’t rely on AI in many respects, it’s excellent for tasks like object removal.

To remove an object in Pixelmator Skilled, you will use the Repair tool.

Make a tool selection from the toolbar. Change the size of the brush, if desired, and drag it over the object you want to erase.

For this check, I used the default settings. The results are confirmed below.

Now let’s see how Apple’s intelligence handles an identical procedure.

Apple’s intelligence

To use Apple Intelligence, remember to have updated to macOS Sequoia and to have enabled the function via Settings > Apple Intelligence.

First, import your {photo} into the Apple Photo app. Make a selection of {photo}, click Modify in the top right corner and go to the file Clean up phase throughout the toolbar. Change the size of the brush using the slider and touch the element you want to remove.

Some devices may also be highlighted automatically, as detected with Devices #1 AND #3 under.

Double-click the highlighted devices to remove them. Once satisfied, click Done to avoid wasting a lot of changes. The results of this check are confirmed below.

Comparison of results

In the case of traces in an instant, Photo by Apple with Apple Intelligence performance is superior to Pixelmator Skilled. The final result of Apple Intelligence is further smooth, while Pixelmator Skilled leaves slight traces, making it easier to locate the modified area.

On the other hand, Apple Intelligence struggles with devices when it comes to the sides of images, leaving visible traces. In those eventualities, Pixelmator Skilled produces a cleaner final result.

Likewise, Apple Intelligence has a disadvantage with shaded devices, resulting in noticeable patches. Pixelmator Skilled handles these cases even more easily.

Conclusion

Each tool has its strengths. Deleting devices has become much clearer with complicated tools, and the results are often simple. For complex edits, Pixelmator Skilled shines because it provides additional tools for detailed retouching.

Apple Intelligence is great for quick edits and great for many casual users. On the other hand, for complicated edits or more difficult eventualities, a licensed tool like Pixelmator Skilled remains unmatched.

Using all the tools together provides the most efficient of all worlds!
