Pssst… have you ever noticed that your web page loads a little faster than usual?
Now it’s no longer just a figment of your imagination!
We are happy to announce that we have implemented Brotli on all your websites hosted on WPMU DEV, giving you a reasonable 11.62% more compression than before (and consequently faster websites!)
This is a change that will make a big difference, especially if your website incorporates a lot of data, such as photographs, videos, and other multimedia content.
Read on to learn more about Brotli and how it can benefit your website.
Brotli, a compression algorithm developed by Google, provides significantly better compression speeds than the usual GZIP approach we were previously using.
It further compresses knowledge effectively, producing smaller file sizes that reduce bandwidth usage. This means your internet web page will load faster and your visitors will have a smoother experience, especially within the tournament where they are on their mobile device or if they have a slower internet connection.
Brotli is supported by all style browsers, so it will improve the experience for almost all of your consumers. For those who are not sure whether your browser is supported or not, you can use this link to find out!
And don’t worry about consumers using an older browser or a browser that doesn’t support Brotli. For them, your web page will simply revert to GZIP and still be a work of art.
Excellent knowledge: no need to do the rest.
Brotli has been enabled for your default internet web page, so you are already collaborating on that pace boost. You probably noticed that the issues were a little faster? Here’s why!
This *also* means that while you may have used a CDN provider (like, ahem, Cloudflare) to use Brotli, you don’t need one.
Savings!
We put Brotli to a moderate test to see if it really delivers on its promises.
We compare GZIP and Brotli compression on various wordpress data, such as the default “Hello Global” post, along with spatial pages from WPMU DEV templates along with Landscaping, Fashionable Trade, Personality, and Simple Trade.
As you can see from the results, Brotli outperformed GZIP in terms of bytes saved each time, making each file even more effectively compressed.
The lower the numbers in the case of knowledge size in bytes, the easier it is! As you can see in the table below, Brotli saved bytes in all categories, up to 17.02% for the elegant corporate web page.
For those who want to learn more about Brotli and how it works, here are the main technical points to read.
